Specific Details Ian O'Mara and Joe Beashel met with Department of Finance officials on 10 August 2023 in relation to the consultation regarding the national discretions open to Ireland in the new Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation (MiCA). Of particular relevance in that meeting were the discretions under MiCA in relation to the transitional period for Crypto-Asset Service Providers.

Intended results The main object of the meeting was to bring to the attention of the Department of Finance the regulatory regime of the Central Bank of Ireland in relation to E-Money Institutions and Virtual Asset Service Providers up to this point. Of particular relevance were group structures employing dual structures of E-Money Institutions and Virtual Asset Service Provider entities and how this could interrelate with the transitional period under MiCA.

Joe Beashel and Ian O'Mara met with Department of Finance officials on 10 August 2023 at the Department of Finance premises in relation to the consultation on the national discretions open to Ireland in the new Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation (MiCA). Both gave a presentation including a slide deck for the Department of Finance personnel.
