Email to Department of Arts and Media re announcement of scheme for news and current affairs, followed by copy of our statement.

Meetings with Department of Arts and Media officials to brief them on current issues, and to seek information on developments including new legislation, funding schemes, and other issues.

Meetings with Coimisiún na Meán to update it on developments in our sector and to seek information on progress of various support schemes and initiatives by the Commission.

This included provide briefing on current supports, or the lack of them, for public service content in our sector. After the general election, this included emails to successful candidates, drawing their attention to our proposals for Programme for Government.

Meeting with Tánaiste Micheal Martin and Chief of Staff Deirdre Gillane in Government buildings to provide information on IBI proposals for fair, proportionate and accessible funding for public service content on independent radio.

Letters to the leaders of the three Government parties. The letters included signatures of all IBI members and stated that the proposed courts and local authority journalism schemes were unworkable and that individual stations had reluctant found that and appealing for accessible funding for the public service content in the independent sector.
