IrBEA letter which was co signed by biomethane developer & producers & bioliquid producers was sent to the Secretary General of the DECC and cc'd to the Secretary General at the DAFM, Secretary General at the DETE, Secretary General at the Department of An Taoiseach and the Secretary General at the DOT. This letter highlighted concerns about imported bioliquids and biomethane fuels under the proposed RHO. The letter was also sent to theTaoiseach Simon Harris T.D. and Tanaiste Michéal Martin T.D.
Intended results
To express the grave concerns of the biogas / biomethane regarding the current direction of the proposed Renewable Heat Obligation (RHO) scheme, which will fail to achieve one of its fundamental objective of supporting the development of an indigenous biomethane sector in Ireland if the issue of imported biomethane and bioliquids fulfilling the obligation is not addressed in the RHO scheme design.
