Raise concern about the impact of potential tariffs on pharmaceutical manufacturing and supply of medicines to patients globally
Intended results
To highlight that tariffs on medicines and their inputs would increase healthcare costs for patients and increase the cost of producing medicines, reducing the competitiveness of pharmaceutical manufacturers that drive innovation. Globally integrated supply chains for medicines means that the impact of tariffs cannot be limited to one country.
Ensuring pharmaceuticals are exempt from any potential retaliatory tariffs because such
measures have a cumulative negative impact, increasing the cost of production and
reducing patient access.
