Specific Details
Expansion of the National Immunisation Programme to include RSV protection for infants and older adults
Intended results
Highlight the importance of the roll-out of an RSV National Immunisation Programme for those over 65 years old to reduce the burden of RSV disease which continues to cause illness and hospitalisation among infants and older adults. The spread of RSV is of particular concern in nursing homes and residential healthcare settings and can lead to further respiratory complications for older people.
Expansion of the infant programme to include a maternal vaccine so that parents have the opportunity to choose between a mother receiving a vaccine during pregnancy or the newborn baby receiving a monoclonal antibody
