New EU Multi-annual financial framework, MFF for EU 27 Heads of State EU Council Meeting 26-27 June 2025
Intended results
To highlight concerns of the EEB on proposals for the MFF, and lack of ringfencing of funding for nature, and on the negative impacts of the proposals to Life+ funding and consequential impacts for nature and civil society organisations capacity, and to seek awareness and pushback.
To highlight support for the concerns and recommendations in the EEB letter to HoS for the EU Council meeting on 26-27 June 2025, and to further emphasise: the implications for Ireland's upcomming Presidency of the EU; the security risks inherent in a failure to address the triple planetary crisis, risks associated with destabilisation of our democracies and further alienation of society & undermining of the rule of law and public accountability
the need to address misinformation and to provide high quality information; grave concern on the failure to uphold international law, and to address our obligations as third States in the face of serious breaches of international law; call for pressure to invoke Article 82 of the EU Israel Association Agreement to denounce it;
to urgently enact meaningful Occupied Territories legislation; need for Ireland to call for re-establishment and provisions of international humanitarian aid pgms; call to implement meaningful responses to Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine in the context of Russian investments and reliance on its fossil fuels and for greater focus as a neutral country in fighting for peace.
