Intended results To highlight to politicians the need for an alternative to A&E for people in mental health or suicidal crisis by providing an expert witness providing an evidence base in support of a public petition calling for alternative crisis pathways for people in suicidal or mental health crisis.

What is the directive you gave to the grassroots campaigners? For many years 3Ts has called for an alternative to A&E for people in suicidal or mental health crisis, regularly posting on social media. 3Ts co-funded research by TCD into experiences of people presenting to ED with self-harm or suicidal crisis supports this position. During this reporting period, 3Ts posted on social media promoting the Adams Protocols campaign, encouraging petition signatures, highlighting our research and signposting to the JCCP meeting Public Petition No P00067/25.

Informal communication (1)

On 24/2/26 Joint Oireachtas Committee on Public Petitions heard Petition P00067/25 seeking alternatives to A&E for people in suicidal & mental health crisis. At the petitioner’s request 3Ts invited Prof Louise Doyle, TCD, to present 3Ts co-funded research supporting alternative crisis pathways. The committee agreed to raise the matter with Minister for Health. A representative of 3Ts attended in the Gallery as an observer & subsequently spoke informally with Pat Buckley TD supporting this call.
