Copa-Cogeca Fertiliser Protest
Intended results
To continue to highlight the problems linked to rising input costs, particularly fertilisers, as IFA believe the Commission has been slow to take measures to address the scale of the situation in a satisfactory manner.
To highlight that the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) will cost EU farmers almost €900m in 2026 and the announcement by the Commission of a Fertiliser Action Plan without addressing CBAM will do nothing to address either the availability or price of fertiliser.
To stress that without fertiliser, a critical raw material in the production of crops there will be massive food shortages across Europe and the globe. There must be an immediate suspension of CBAM on fertiliser.
