IFA CAP Hub
Intended results
To launch the IFA CAP Hub at the Tullamore Agriculture Show.
To highlight that the CAP hub is one page on the IFA website which is built so that every farmer can see, in plain figures, what the proposed cuts to the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) budget would mean.
To lead a campaign to increase the proposed allocation in the CAP budget under the Multi Financial Framework (MFF) to protect Irish farmers, food security, the environment and rural communities.
To highlight that the Irish Government holds the Presidency of the Council of the EU from 1 July 2026 until the 31 December 2026. This gives our Taoiseach and Minister for Agriculture a central role in EU policy formulation around the MFF and the CAP during this period.
To emphasise IFA's five key asks
1. To call for an increased budget. Farmers cannot do more with less. CAP needs at least 500bn and not a 24% cut.
2. To reward active farmers and not a cut in payments that will punish family farms.
3. Independent CAP Regulation. Farm policy must be designed by agricultural ministries and not diluted into a general regional fund.
4. Simplification. Real simplification is needed at farm level that does not require more paperwork branded as reform.
5. To have transition arrangements. To giver farmers and the State time to adapt rather than face disruptive changes rushed through without transition arrangements.
