Specific Details
There is concern with the direction being taken in the control and management of assets and resources across the county, in particular those we depend on both for local recreation and also for tourists. The viaduct in Borris was recently closed, permission for upgrading of the Barrow Development denied, if this continues then will we be hanging a closed sign at the entrance to the county?
Intended results
Cllrs to review and take action to ensure that the activities and attractions in the county are promoted in the right way and accessible to all .

To express concern in relation to the direction Carlow is heading regarding the amenities and attractions we have across the county, if we continue along this current path then very soon we may just be known as the county where you can see but not experience. This situation needs to be reversed, and the message needs to be clear that Carlow is open for business and visitors.
The viaduct in Borris is the most recent example of closing off our amenities and attractions. The closure of the viaduct is not only affecting tourists to the area, the impact is more local as the area was regularly used and accessed by the local community. The decision on the Barrow Towpath Development by the County Council Planning department also sends a message about the region, to keep the towpath and all the barrow has to offer hidden should be considered a crime. The current towpath needs to have work carried out to ensure it is accessible to everyone, not just those who are able bodied.
