Specific Details A request for either the adequate resources to meet the increasing compliance requirements or a reduction in these requirements. An increase in the resources for the Youth Work Sector. Provision of security of funding to enable the Community and Voluntary sector retain skilled and qualified staff and therefore continue to deliver quality responses to identified needs.

The following activities occurred for this specific Subject Matter Area.

Lobby day (1)

The event was organised by Youth Work Ireland as part of the celebrations for YWI Week in April. Member Youth Services met with TD's and Senators on an individual basis in the Mansion House on April 25th. The young people from the CYS Younger Voices youth group spoke about the work of the Youth Service and the benefits they gain from involvement. They shared the results of a recent survey they had conducted in the County and highlighted the specific concerns of young people. They then spoke about the challenges facing the Youth Service in continuing to meet the needs of young people. Of increasing concern is the lack or absence of resources being provided to meet the growing burden of compliance and reporting. Lack of multi-annual budgets allied with insecure funding creates real difficulties in trying to maintain effective, quality services for young people.
