Lobbying activity
The following activities occurred for this specific Subject Matter Area.
Letter (1)
We sent letters in May 2019 to selected TD's specifically around recommendations for changes to Tús but then followed up with emails as part of our Pre-Budget recommendations campaign in August These recommendations covered the following :
Back to Work Enterprise Allowance:
1. Extend programme support to more than 2-years.
CE:
1. Support re-engagement after 3-months.
2. Increase training budget / relax emphasis on QQI training.
Local Employment Services (LES):
1. Any future tender for the provision of employment services should be restricted to not-for-profit organisations and should focus on supporting the most disadvantaged.
2. Progressions to Tús and CE should count towards the achievement of targets.
Tús:
1. Reduce the Inter-Tús Placement qualification period from 3 yrs to 1 yr.
2. Extend employment contracts for those identified as needing increased support
3. Update eligibility criteria to increase access
4. Extend employment contracts for Tús participants aged 62 or over.

In general TD's, Local Councillors, MEPs and Senators representing or connected with our local geographical area of operation (Dún Laoghaire Rathdown) were contacted however some others with a particular interest in our area of work (tackling social exclusion etc) were also on the list.
