Intended results Improved dog welfare. Under DBE amendments, seeking socialisation of dogs. Ensuring a good review of the definition (DBEs) and whether a self-registration system for breeders with 3-5 breeding bitches would work. Dog Control: maintain status quo re. list of restricted breeds. Development of Dog Warden service to include issuing of notices/measures. Recommended, ideally, one microchip database for better traceability.

Meeting (1)

The Irish Blue Cross CEO attended a meeting with DRCD Dog Control Officials (John Orme, Teresa Gavaghan) at The Department of Rural and Community Development (DRCD) offices, Ballina on January 23rd 2020 with CEOs of Dogs Trust and the ISPCA to discuss draft amendments to the Dog Breeding Establishment Bill and to discuss dog control areas currently under review.
