Specific Details Maintaining essential, lifeline ferry services during Covid-19 travel and general lock-down restrictions.

Intended results Removal of the requirement for passengers arriving into Ireland from the mainland UK, on direct services, to self isolate which is anomalous with unrestricted transit for those passengers who chose to travel indirectly via Northern Ireland. To avoid future dilution of the reciprocal free travel arrangements embodied in the Common Travel Area Protocal agreed betwen Ireland and the UK. Removal of market distortions from the Government adopted PSO support model for the maintenance of essential ferry routes during Covid-19 restrictions
