Specific Details raised issues affecting independent convenience retailers, including costs of insurance, employment, overheads and energy. Concerns over retail crime and its impact on businesses and staff were also raised. Calls for a small business ombudsman were repeated.

Intended results This was the first step of a new round of engagement, raising the issues we will be pursuing over coming months, as indepedent retailers look for help to combat the tide of rising costs that is threatening their businesses.
