Specific Details RGFI lobbied Government to address the security of supply, storage and gas prices as we have been highlighting to Government since 2014 on these matters of national importance. We put forward an Integrated Business case for Biomethane that will provide cross sectoral economic and environmental benefits, which in light of the sectoral carbon ceilings and legally binding targets all solutions to decarbonize these sectors should be give serious consideration by Government

Intended results The intended results is for Government to include biomethane in policy to address security of supply, storage and stable gas prices, decarbonising the difficult to decarbonise sectors of Thermal demand, agriculture and transport. The ask of Government by RGFI and industry led collaboration/sectoral representation is to include biomethane with a target of 2.5TWh by 2030, and 9.5TWH by 2050, in the absence of an enduring subsidy regime, Government to provide 50% Capital Funding, implement the RHO. request that Government support Carbon Farming with the farmer being central to enabling a scalable AD biomethane industry, and reward the farmers both economically and environmentally, giving farmers control of the carbon credits, perhaps trading in a voluntary carbon trading platform. the opportunity and potential to provide farmers with a secure diverse income, while promoting organic farm practices, increased productivity & contract supply to an AD biomethane plant & benefit from bioecono
